^Lot 2229 RARE ITHACA "KNICK" MODEL NID HEAVY BARREL CONTOUR

SINGLE TRAP. Cal. 12 ga. 2 3/4" S#. 402569. bbl. 32" vent rib with white front and mid beads. Ithaca Flues and NID single trap shotguns were available with light, medium, and heavy contour bbls. This desirable gun has the heavy contour bbl. that improves swing thru by moving the guns weight forward. The .880" heavy bbl. is striking when viewed next to the standard .830" muzzle. The case colored action has a rotary bolt locking and cam cocking. Rear, mid & forward trigger positions were available. This gun features the desirable rear-position trigger. The hand engraving consists of generous foliate scroll with the Ithaca eagle holding crossed arrows on the bottom. Right side of the action features a gold-inlaid woodcock with a gold rooster pheasant on the left. Trim beavertail forend with ebony tip insert and capped pistol grip stock of fancy black walnut, having a gold shield in the toe. Hand checkering is fleur de lis style with additional coverage on the stock ears. LOP: 14 1/8" over original Ithaca sunburst pad. DAC: 1 3/4". DAH: 1 7/8" Near neutral cast. Extra Full (.044") choke. Weight: 8 lbs., 10 oz. CONDITION: bbl. has over 95% blue showing slight edge & carry wear. The action retains over 50% fading case colors. Wood finish shows some light crazing with handling marks & spots of finish loss. Tight sound action. Very good bright bore. (25-6120/DS). CURIO. $4,500-6,500.
